Shinjuku Gyoen is a beautiful garden and it’s hard to believe such a peaceful place exists in the heart of the city. I spent hours wandering the enormous grounds which smell like pine needles and are filled with people enjoying picnics and tai chi. I can’t wait to see it filled with golden leaves in autumn and cherry blossoms in spring. The perfect escape from the city.
